For many, today is the official start of summer. An extra day off of work. A day to open the pool or get that extra yard work done. Some are having picnics or other family gatherings.

But, let us not for get what today is really about.

Let us understand why our nations flags fly at half staff until noon. Let us remember that while many of our veterans are alive and well today, many never made it home.

Take in a parade or stop by a war memorial and remember those who were instrumental in affording us the freedoms we have today.
