Happy July 4th!

July 4, 2022

The men and women of the Chippewa Fire Department would like to wish all of you a very happy and safe Independence Day.

We wouldn’t mind being invited to your back yard barbecue but, we’d rather not have to attend in emergency mode so here are a few safety reminders that will help us all enjoy the day…

Fireworks and fire pit embers can easily start a brush fire. The ground cover in our area is very dry right now due to lack of sufficient rain fall.
Stay vigilant and keep a water source near by if possible.

Todays high may reach the low 90’s!
Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water and take breaks from the sunshine and heat!

Be mindful of children and pets this evening.
The bright lights and loud noises, while entertains to some, may scare them and cause them to run off and try to hide.

Use moderation when consuming alcohol. Heat, fireworks and alcohol usually do not make a good combination!

Make sure as you prepare your burgers and hotdogs that your grill is in a safe place, away from any siding or overhangs. Watch for flare ups or any charcoal that may fall onto the grass or your deck.

Should an incident arise where you need emergency help, call 911 immediately. The sooner we know you need help, the sooner we can get to you!
