| At approximately 1:36 p.m., The Chippewa Township Volunteer Fire Department (Station 22) and its first alarm assignment were dispatched to Pizza Hut in Chippewa Township for a reported structure fire. Ladder 22 arrived on scene within minutes and crews found a small pile of boxes burning against the rear of the building, extending to a nearby wooden fence, with fire beginning to impinge into the attic space. The crew from Ladder 22 deployed a 1¾″ handline and quickly knocked down the remaining fire. Employees took quick action prior to our arrival using a bucket of water and a fire extinguisher, helping limit the spread. Additional crews completed overhaul and investigation. Engine 61 and Tanker 61 were diverted from the scene to stand by at Station 22 to provide coverage during the incident. All units were released shortly thereafter. We are grateful for the assistance of our mutual aid departments as always!
