Shortly after 1Pm Sunday afternoon Station 22 was alerted for a motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries and multiple entrapment.

The Patterson area fire companies were also alerted as mutual aid.

The first units on scene reported two vehicles involved in a head on crash. One vehicle was still on the roadway with a single patient trapped in the drivers seat and the other vehicle was over an embankment on its side with the driver unable to exit the vehicle.

While the Patterson companies worked to remove the door on one vehicle, the Chippewa crew quickly stabilized the car on its side and removed the windshield. That patient exited the vehicle under their own power and was transported by Medic Rescue the Medical Center.

The patient in the other car was extricated and then transported by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The Chippewa Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
