Accident Snarls Traffic
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

July 13, 2022

Just before 4pm yesterday a traffic accident at the intersection of Darlington Road and Rt. 51 resulted in a large pole being sheered. The downed pole dropped nearly half of the traffic lights and other traffic control devices across all lanes of Rt. 51 causing a traffic nightmare.

The Chippewa Police department controlled the chaos while the Chippewa Fire Department , assisted by fire companies from both Patterson and Patterson Heights made quick work of removing the tangled mess from the North and Southbound lanes of Rt. 51.

Darlington Road remained closed near Get Go for a while longer until traffic maintenance crews could remove the pole, wires and lights.

Penn Dot crews arrived on scene to help establish traffic control and will remain on scene until repairs can be made.

Crews had traffic controlled within an hour.

Repairs will be quite extensive so no time estimate was available. There were no reported injuries.
