This past Tuesday, the Chippewa Fire Department conducted primary search drills as part of our weekly training night. Primary search is one of the most critical tasks performed on the fireground, focused on quickly locating and removing occupants from a structure during an emergency! Crews worked through realistic scenarios while maintaining consistent radio communications with Command to reinforce coordination, accountability, and operational efficiency. Members also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS), which has replaced the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). The transition to NERIS enhances how we document incidents, track data, and improve overall emergency response capabilities. Great work by all of our members for their continued dedication to training and preparedness. The time spent drilling ensures we are ready to respond professionally and effectively when our community needs us most!
