A Busy Tuesday

April 3, 2021

Tuesday March 30th proved to be another busy day for station 22. So busy, in fact, that we had to postpone our regular training that night!

We had one motor vehicle accident, three medical calls and three brush fire responses!

It all started around 9:30am with a motor vehicle accident with one vehicle running into a gas meter causing a leak.
Engine 22 crews secured the leak and notified the gas company.

The three medical calls came throughout the day.

At around 3:30pm we were alerted for a tree branch that had come down in the intersection of Brooks and Oak drives. The branch had taken out a live power line and started a small brush fire. Brush 22 and Engine 22 responded and alerted the power company.

About one hour later, while still on scene, Big Beaver, station 14, requested us to respond to a large brush fire on Foxwood Road. Brush 22 responded along with many other fire departments as the fire was deep in the woods and consumed about seven acres. It took several hours to extinguish and Engine 22 was eventually able to clear the downed power line and also responded to Foxwood Drive.

As it approached 7pm, while they were still battling the Foxwood Rd. fire, Station 14 was alerted to another brush fire on McKinley Rd.
Some members that had gathered at Chippewa’s station responded in Rescue 22 along with Patterson’s Engine 90. Engine 90 was staged at our station to help cover the area while all the other are departments were tied up on Foxwood.

Engine 14-2 also responded and a quick knockdown was made on a fire that covered about one acre.

It was after 9pm by the time all the units had returned to station, were cleaned and filled and readied for the next response.
